Design and build

I will start off with the very basic things you should know. First, is that the build here is a glossy plastic. It glows to mimic a glass back so its not just some boring material used because this is a budget-midrange smartphone. Galaxy A50 is a 158.5 x 74.7 x 7.7 mm smartphone in dimension, with a 166 grams weight. It is comfortable to hold thanks to its rounded corners and light weight. The back as a triple camera setup on the top right corner and Samsung branding is on the upper mid.

Now to some interesting stuff. Facing you is its 6.4-inch Infinity-U display. And it doesn’t just end at that since fingerprint unlocking is this very same display’s responsibility. This has been achieved via Optics tech learn more about it online. This is the very reason why we do not see a rear mounted fingerprint scanner as we would have hoped. Something cool I say have fun showing it off to friends.

Unlike the top of the front the chin has a noticeable bezel and the display’s corners are arced with transformative boarder radius of the Galaxy A50’s rounded corners. There is a speaker grill to the right of the USB port and the 3.5mm jack to its left.

Display

I feel I have touched a big chunk of the display already while discussing the fingerprint scanner which is embedded underneath it. Such implementation can only be made on an already brilliant display panel, and brilliant it is with all its top-notch specification of Super AMOLED touchscreen and a sharp 1080 x 2340 pixels, 19.5:9 ratio (~403 ppi density) resolution.

Outdoors this display is still visible and bright enough to read. At 6.4 inches this is a large display estate good for interactions such as watching videos and playing games. Book readers will also have a blast. It doesn’t matter how you interact best with your smartphone, Samsung Galaxy A50 will redefine your viewing experience. Camera

This is the first A Series smartphone to have a primary camera setup with three lenses. The three are 25MP low light camera, 8MP ultra-wide lens and a 5MP live focus lens. Should I break this down? The 25MP camera works best in evening hours when the sun does down or when lighting is not sufficient.

The 8MP lens will shoot ultra-wide photos fitting more content to the frame and the 5MP lens is s depth sensor for subject separation (blurring background). Video recording (can be recorded in ultra-wide 1230 as well) is 1080p@30fps video recording for primary and selfie camera which is an impressive 25 MP, f/2.0 shooter. With it you shall get some nice-looking selfies you will be wowed.

Platform

Samsung Galaxy A50 is an Android powered smartphone with 9.0 (Pie) and One UI themed on.

It has a strong Exynos 9610 (10nm) chipset, an Octa-core (4×2.3 GHz Cortex-A73 & 4×1.7 GHz Cortex-A53) CPU and a Mali-G72 MP3 GPU. This chipset is strong with performance and efficient with battery life.

Storage  

Respectively the 64/128 GB model runs on 4/6 GB RAM. And Samsung as we know them for generosity have allowed internal storage expansion using a microSD, up to 512 GB. A dedicated slot has been set apart for this function.

Battery

There is a non-removable Li-Po 4000 mAh battery and it is charged via fast battery charging 15W. 4000mAh is a descent battery capacity that should see you last longer hours of screen-on-time.
